Lashes are my thing. For years I’ve tried to keep the main emphasis of my makeup on my lashes. I love a long, voluminous and sort of “grouped together” lash look but let me tell you, with these average length lashes I was blessed with, its no easy task. I wanted my lashes to look a certain way so I would spend eons applying my mascara and fiddling around with my lashes until I got them to look how I wanted. And lets be real, they were still pretty far off from how I’d ideally like my lashes to look. You may ask, “Why don’t wear false eyelashes daily then?” Well, as much as I do love the look of some false lashes, I cannot get the majority of them to fit comfortably for the life of me and trying to apply them takes even longer than my 20 min mascara routine (yes 20 min!)
Ever since I first saw eyelash extensions popping up on celebrities and bloggers alike, I grew a strong interest in them! I absolutely loved how they looked and most of all loved that you could literally wake up with your dream lashes and not have to do a single thing to them for weeks. This being said, I had also heard horror stories about lash extensions gone wrong which made me a bit nervous about getting them done myself. I told myself, if I see at least a couple people get their lashes done by the same technician and they can vouch for their experience being safe and loving the results then I’ll give it a try! Sooner than later I saw one of my fellow San Diego bloggers Olia Majd of Love Olia get her lash extensions done and they were by far my favorite lash extensions I’d seen on someone! Shortly after, I saw another local blogger, Paola Alberdi of Blank Itinerary get hers done and I loved how hers looked too! When I checked who did their lashes it was actually the same technician, Lashd by Hazel!
I was more than thrilled to book my appointment with her, although I have to admit I was still a bit nervous! Would they be uncomfortable? Would my eyes get irritated from the glue? Would I like how they looked? I shared some inspiration photos with Hazel and described exactly what I wanted. I was very specific and she was so on point in giving me what I had envisioned! I asked for a “grouped together” lash look with a good amount of volume while still looking natural. We decided on doing a combination of classic and volume lashes from the Xtreme line of lashes she uses to achieve this. The appointment was totally pain free and my sensitive eyes were completely fine with the glue! I couldn’t be happier with how my lashes turned out and how incredibly well they are holding up two weeks later! I’m so glad I found a great lash technician and could not wait to share her with you guys!
If you are in San Diego (or willing to make the trip here) I can’t recommend Hazel enough! She was kind enough to offer my readers a 10% discount if you mention me when you book with her! She suggests booking two weeks ahead. Her instagram is @lashdbyhazel and you can reach her through dm or the number listed in her bio.
Before and After Eyelash Extensions
Eyelash Extension Tips:
- Bring in some inspiration photos so your technician can envision what you want
- I would start out with more volume that you might initially want. You’re going to slowly lose volume over the next few weeks and this will ensure your lashes look fuller for longer.
- It is essential not to get you lashes wet for the first 24 hours. I would also avoid steamy showers.
- Oil will dissolve the lash glue so be sure you don’t use oil near your eyes but also make sure other face products you use near your eyes don’t contain oils.
- Don’t apply mascara to your extensions.
- Don’t rub your eyes.
- You want to carefully brush them with a lash spool once a day just to make sure they don’t get tangled but other than this, the less you touch them, the better.
