I’m so excited to finally say, I found my wedding dress! I’m taking you along with me in my wedding dress shopping experience in this post and also laying down my best tips for finding your dream dress! Keep reading for my Wedding Dress shopping experience and tips!
FINDING MY DRESS:
To be real with you guys, I’m not a super “wedding-y” person and I’m not doing a super traditional wedding. That being said, I still had a very specific vision of what I wanted for my wedding as far as the overall aesthetic but I wasn’t set on a dress style and I wasn’t finding many dresses that I felt fit my style. However, shortly after starting the planning process I discovered Lovely Bride on instagram (@lovelybride & @lovelybridela) and felt like their dresses couldn’t have fit my vibe more perfectly! I made an appointment at their LA store located in Pasadena and actually already had my eye on one of the dresses they carry before I went in for my appointment! I had such a wonderful experience shopping with them and couldn’t recommend them enough if you are looking for your dream dress! Within minutes of trying on my dress I knew it was the one! It was such a seamless process after months of not finding anything, I found the perfect dress so quickly!
HOW TO FIND YOUR DREAM DRESS:
1. BE OPEN
I originally had a different idea of what I wanted but when I tried on the style I thought I would go with, I ended up not loving it. I actually ended up looking into a style I didn’t think I’d want, and who knew I would love that style the most! So keep an open mind and try on a variation of styles!
2. BE UPFRONT ABOUT BUDGET
People are definitely right when they say to never try on a dress that’s completely out of your budget. If you end up loving it the most and nothing will compare to it in your eyes but theres no way it will fit into your budget, you’re just setting yourself up for disappointment. You can find beautiful dresses at any budget, do your research ahead of time, and let them know your budget before they pull dresses.
3. FOCUS ON WHAT WORKS ON YOU NOT SOMEONE ELSE
The most important thing for me when wedding dress shopping was finding a style that I felt looked best on me, my body and was the dress that made ME feel beautiful. It can be easy to see a dress on instagram and be so sure thats the dress you want but if you try it on and don’t feel amazing in it, don’t get stuck on it! Also remember you can change your dress to fit your needs. Do you love a strapless dress but maybe don’t feel comfortable showing your arms? You can often add beautiful sleeves, arm cuffs or other details to make the dress work for you!
Remember that finding your dress is about you, its your process and for your big day, and most importantly its for you to feel beautiful in!
