One of my absolute favorite things to do for the Holiday season is gift wrapping, even though I kind of suck at it. I love thinking of new creative ways I can wrap someones present, not only because it will look pretty under the tree but because I love seeing how much people appreciate receiving a gift that’s been wrapped so special just for them. I feel like the gift wrapping is part of the gift itself! That being said I usually have to recruit my mom to help me do the actual wrapping because lets be real I’m on the struggle bus when it comes to wrapping and my mom is basically a master at it. She’s always helped us wrap our gifts growing up and its a tradition I look forward to every Christmas!
This year I wanted to have some pretty golds, blushes, whites and greys in my gift wrapping. I went for a very neutral scandinavian theme for all my christmas decor this year so I wanted to channel a little more glam in my gift wrapping.
Here are a few of my favorite gift wrapping ideas & tips this year!
- Color theme: Pick a color theme and three or four wrapping papers within that theme and stick to those! It will create a much more cohesive look under your tree!
- Gift tags: Gift tags can make a present that much more beautiful but they don’t have to be expensive. Use some plain brown paper tags and write on them in pretty cursive. It gives the gift such a personal touch and people will love it!
- Ribbon: I decided to use a mix of twine and more a glamorous gold star garland for my gifts this year and I love how they turned out! For garland, try wrapping it around your gift long-ways a few times, it will give a gorgeous elegant finish to your gift! For twine, use a double layer of it to wrap it around your gift like regular ribbon then finish it off with a simple bow. I absolutely love how this simple look ties together a gift.
- Gift Toppers: The final touch I like to add to my wrapped gifts are some sort of topper. I picked up some adorable wooden stars (in the target dollar section) and stuck those on some of the gifts and love how cute they looked. I also love tying a mini ornament on to the bow for a festive touch!
If you’re like me you’re probably going to be up late tonight finishing your holiday wrapping! I hope some of these tips & ideas will help you create some gorgeous wrapped gifts just in time for the holidays!
