Picking a fragrance is so incredibly personal and it can be touch to find one that you truly love. Your fragrance becomes your expression of yourself to the world, and it does so through our most memory-invoking sense, smell. People begin to associate you with the the scent you wear and will think of you if they smell that scent elsewhere. I’ve smelled a scent as someone walks by and immediately had memories of my aunt pop into my head because of a perfume she used to wear that smelled just like the scent drifting pass me. You also have to consider that the scents you choose are what you are going to be smelling all day. Some scents smell good in the store but once you’re exposed to them for longer periods of time become overbearing or just don’t feel like they”fit” you.
I personally have the hardest time finding a new perfume. I’m very picky with fragrances and rarely find one that I actually like, let alone want to be smelling all day long. Over the last couple years I’ve been able to narrow down which top notes I really like in a fragrance and I’ve sought out those notes in the perfumes I shop for. Those notes are vanilla and rose. I have three favorite fragrances all containing either vanilla, rose or both. None of these scents are fake or too “perfumy” smelling, they don’t have too strong of a rosy scent (which is something I don’t particularly love in a fragrance) and they stay on your skin and clothing all day long.
Here are my 3 Favorite Fragrances:
I recently discovered this lovely little perfume at Anthropologie. After searching Nordstrom, Nieman Marcus, Bloomingdales and Sephora, smelling dozens of perfumes (some that were hundreds of dollars) I walked away with nothing. However, when I walked into Anthropologie and picked up this adorable little perfume, I immeadiately fell in love with it. I was looking for something with a strong note of vanilla but that was a bit more sophisticated than my current pure vanilla perfume and this fragrance is just that. The roasted almond and clove layered with vanilla and blonde woods creates the perfect cozy yet fresh blend of scents that I cant get enough of. Oh and its only $24!
My Aunt was wearing this scent one day and I had to ask her what she was wearing because it smelled divine. She gave me a little bottle of it and ever since, I’ve continued to buy it myself (It’s been my every day scent for the past few years)! This perfume is a pure vanilla scent but doesn’t have a “fake” or “chemical” vanilla smell. Its delicately spiced to perfection and will leave you smelling absolutely delicious! It is also great to layer with other scents. This is yet another amazing Anthropologie find that comes in an $18 and $10 size.
Ever since I tried the Lush Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner, I’ve thought that they should create a fragrance of the scent. If you’ve smelled any of Lush’s Rose Jam products, you know how irresistibly delicious they smell! I walked into Lush a couple of months ago and was discussing how they should create a Rose Jam scent, when to my surprise, they told me they were actually going to be releasing a Rose Jam scent soon! I’m completely obsessed with this scent and love being able to wear it as a body spray now. This spray is also great as a room spray or linen spray to make your room smell absolutely heavenly. This body spray comes in at $39
PS. My next idea is that Lush should make a candle of this scent!
